On March 14, 2009, a group from the Northeast Moravian Disaster Response held an all-day workshop on maintenance and repair for staff, some FEGS workers, and some clients at MOD. Several small repairs were made in the building, and the room for the life skills center was cleaned and painted. The NEMDR team is shown below.

 

In Fall 2008, Moravian Open Door received a grant from the IGH (In God’s Hands) Foundation to use for an unbudgeted need. These funds will supplement the grant from Guardian Life Insurance to provide classes in life skills.

The last news of Moravian Open Door (MOD) reported in The Moravian Magazine (October 2007) was of the flood of 21 inches of storm sewer water that inundated all basement areas of the building on East 18th Street, Manhattan, on August 8, 2007. Common room, kitchen, office, storeroom, hallway, and elevator were all hit with the deluge of filthy water; the task to clean up and restore was enormous.
